    Chowan River

I am convinced that I suck on this river. For some reason, I have never figure it out (colors, baits etc.). Went out this past Sunday and managed 5 dinks, but I think they were looking to commit suicide, so I don't think they really count. What is the deal on this water?

If you learn anything and would like to pass it on.......

That river has caused me to start playing golf again.

    C'mon guys...Chowan is easy.

Just pick a section of bank (anywhere), and start throwing 1 of everything in your tackle collection. If you catch a fish, throw that lure away and keep throwing 1 of everything else. If you run out of baits, you can either start back at the beginning, or just cut off a piece of your turkey sandwich and put it on a hook.

If you come back the next day, pick a different section of bank, and repeat the process.

If none of that works...just follow Trickworm!

I feel your pain. We practiced there a couple times and just could not figure them out this past Sat. in the tournament. Sad thing is my next tournament is out of Shoups Landing. Looks like I will be donating again.

Fish traps seem to be a sure bet...lol No seriously the river can really tough this time of year and you just have to keep plugging at them. Normal color/water contrast seem to work unless its muddy.

"Folow Trickworm"...actually good advice if your boat is an Ironclad!

I've won several Back Bay Bassmasters T's on the Chowan in the past 20+ years but each and every time, I ran to either the Yeopim or the Perq!

Ive caught some nice fish on the Chowan but definitely my least favorite place to fish in this area.

    Re: (RobShaw1)

The biggest problem I see with the Chowan is not the river it self. Some of us work real hard to find areas that hold fish, once they are shown to others, well you know what happens next.

Amen brother! Some of my favorite spots on the Chick are dried out from over fishing! But I have some new favorite spots! There were 3 wrapped boats in "bubblegum" on Monday...how the hell did they know about that little ditch??

Mike I know what you mean. I'm not looking for honey holes, just a point in the right direction. That and to vent some frustration. Since I started fishing again, that river gives me fits.

My Rico's must be defective cause they don't work on the Cho.
