    Question on a Johnson 90 V4 Motor

    I have a Johnson 90 V4 MODEL # - J90MLCRD

I have a question about a componet that got hot when I connected the battery. The componet is mounted on the Right side of the motor and is where the arrow is pointing in the picture. What is this componet and if it got to hot to touch is it damaged? Also if it is where can I find a replacement?

    Thanks

    Re: Question on a Johnson 90 V4 Motor (Firefighter615)

It's the voltage rectifier and chances are good it got fried. that bone yard your in may have one for you. Pull off that terminal strip cover that is next to it and make sure the two yellow wires comming down from the stator under the flywheel are hooked up correctly to the two yellow wires to the left side of the strip. The rectangular black box is one of two power packs for your motor the other one is on the other side. If they don't have the part go to http://www.shop.evinrude.com and use your model number to track the part down.
