    Hey Mike Allen

I remember when I fished with you we talked bout dog resuces and such. Any chance you and your wife ever do wildlife ? Tammy and I have 3 baby raccoons, prolly bout 10 weeks old. Thought I would offer them to someone else who knows what they are doing before we raise them ourselves. Tammy has raised crows, deer, squirrels, possums, etc.. but this will the first coons she ever dealt with. We had them for two days and so far so good. No ticks or fleas and they are very healthy and sweet. We're already attached to these lil guys.

Re: Hey Mike Allen (Rough Stuff Rider)

I had 3 two years ago and they were the most fun I ever had with animals. They would get in the recliner with me every night and watch tv. I had them for about a year. I would let them run lose in the evenings and one day they just left. They came back in about 3 weeks and ate and then left again. I never seen them any more. But it was fun, especialy when we feed them with the milk bottle. I will talk to the wife and see if she wants to do it again. Where do you live?

we live in woodbridge virginia. My fiancee has fallen in love with them. And she doesnt wanna give them up at this point.

So its lookin like we are gonna raise them until they can learn to forage on their own. We have been bottle feeding them every 5 hours or so with KMR and even bought them a lil raccoon dog toy from the pet store which they are fascinated by. We are blessed to have a large home with 5 extra bedrooms so they have their own room and I built them a condo. Its framed now and not quite done.

Like I said, these are our first coons ever and I think they will teach us more then we will ever teach them. These guys are super smart.

We got in touch with a few coon rehab folks but everyone is full to capacity. But one lady offered to help us with gettin them vacinated for parvo, distemper and rabies as well as worm treatment incase. Their future is looking bright. Names are Bruno(dominate male) Bucky and my fave named after my father Charlie. Hes the smallest at 1 pound 7 ounces and sweet as can be.

One thing we did learn, was once they start eating on their own Don't Mess With Them. They will get aggressive over their food. Other than that it's Happy Trails.

Thanks for sharing that. Since we wll be moving closer to Fredericksburg this will come in handy. We have two dogs and a cat so that might be a good place to take them when we relocate. As for the coons, they are doing great. Still bottlefeeding as they dont seem to know what to do with solid food. They did however make a real effort to eat a bowl of cereal with kitty milk we placed in front of them. They went bonkers over that bowl. They weigh under two pounds each. Soon they wll be ready for vaccines and worming.

I'm gonna try and find a home for them in the next month or so. I really dont wanna release them back into the wild unless its some kind of nature park where they will be cared for to some degree. Once they have been handled so much by humans they will never fear man which is not a good thing when they are in the wild. If we were ready to buy our lil farm then I would just keep them till then and release them there, but we are prolly six months from being ready to sell and relocate.

Hartwood Animal Hospital is GREAT! Dr. Stamp is AWESOME! She and the whole staff helped out big time in helping with what turned out to be major food allergies with Dakota, my Chesapeake Bay Retriever. There guidance, knowledge, and expertise is unmatched. They also have a groomer and kenneling on site as well. You will not go wrong with any of there services.

Good to know, we were a lil concerned with who we were gonna use once we moved so that solves that mystery. As for grooming, my fiancee is the groomer at Dogtopia in wodbridge, she actually has a partnership with the owner. She has more dogs then time to do them all, grooming business is booming to say the least. Hard to believe people pay 80+ bux to have a dog groomed but they do all day. Infact once we move we will be opening a boarding/doggie daycare/grooming business of our own in addition to horse boarding. And I will continue to just let someone else manage my preservation contracting biz up here in prince william county, Cant wait to get out of woodbridge Thanks again
