Looking at a different boat..... 1998 Johnson 175 starving for gas?

this is a 98 statos 201 fish n ski with a 1998 175hp jonson fast stike. stainless stell prop, motor has tilt and trim, boat is in good condition. seats 5 in the back (2 captians chairs and 3 seats in the back, 2 fisking seats front and rear poles.everything works. new hoot foot, new fish finder, new carpet, all new seats, 2 live wells, bait tank, lots of storage. 65 lb minokota trolling motor, 3 batterires, (2 deep cycle trolling batts. and a deep cycle blue top optima), banks on board battery charging sys. aireator for live wells.am/fm cass. with spearkers. hydrallic steering, comes with 2003 continental trailer in good condition

went to take it out this weekend for july 4, seems like its starving for fuel< takes off real slow< takes longer than it should to get on plain
the motor runs but needs a little work, dont know anything about the fuel injected (ficht) i have no money to get it fixed or to take it some were for them to look at it

If you read the last paragraph when he talks about it starving for fuel...... what might this be other than the gas tank vapor locking or lines clogged? Is this motor as bullet proof as the old 150 seemed to be?

Forget I asked...... I just did a little deeper digging and this Ficht motor is a problem child..... what a bummer, I thought I had found a sweet deal.....

from my reading over the last several months ficht means runnnnnn

The only way you can tell is by the model number if it shows J175FPXXX it is injected. If it is J175GLXXX it is carbed.

This is what his add says. Its just so cheap..... If less than $750 would fix it I think it would still be a deal. Maybe buy a different motor and sell this one?

Keep looking you'll find something. If it is indeed an injected motor you would need a laptop and the software to work on it anyway and you would need to be a trained BRP Tech as well. Keep looking for a carb motor.
