BPS Experience from store to store.

    BEGIN RANT
Does the Hampton BPS suck or what? The only other one I shopped at more than a dozen times was the one in Memphis. The Memphis one had exactly what I wanted, size, color, shape and brand about 90% of the time. I'd be happy with 50/50 at this one. Example - I went there at lunch with 3 specific items in mind. They had one of them. Not even a sold out strip where they should have been. Just didn't have them.

Now, I won't dispute they don't have everything, but, they have a lot more than any other place around here. I mean, there are literaly thousands of things out there and it would be impossible for them (or anyone else) to carry everything.

I've been to ocean's east a bunch of time, been to DeShields alot too, and to me they carry even less than BPS, and alot of what they do carry is "one-off" stuff that somebody made in their garage.

I have been to BPS one time in Charlotte and it was well stocked. Ashland one time and it had more selection and what I wanted than Hampton, but I spent more money at Green Top than BPS. IMO Green Top has a better selection of what I want.
Hampton BPS , but its better than nothing.

If you are at Green Top and they dont have what your looking for, your not far from the BPS just down the road, they keep a good stock most of the time, I"ll go to Richmond before I"ll go Hampton any more. I will say I save money by going to Hampton because they won"t have what I"m looking for !!

I went there saturday to buy new spinning reel, went to the reel counter no one around couldn't get anyone to showed up. After 15 minutes, I asked a guy walking by with BPS shirt on if he could help me, he gave me a frustrated look and said "I'm supposed to be off but I'll find someone to help you" 10 minutes later no show. I walked out and told the guy at the front podium by the registers, couldn't get any help at the reel counter, he said let get someone for you, I said already tried that no one came, so I'll get it somewhere else. BPS has its issues but unless you go online its all we got. Wish Greentop was 45 minutes closer.

Well technically Greentop only needs to be 20 minutes closer. You wasted 25 waiting on someone.

Re: BPS Experience from store to store. (Tracker)

Rumor has it there is a new fishing section manager and he is open ears to make it better. Maybe next time see if all of you on here can talk to him to try and make it better. Complaining on here is not going to get us to the GreenTops level. I will be talking to him as soon as I can get to him. The last manager didn't give an rats azz about the store, which is obvious. So the next time in there take it to the man himself. And yes it sucks but better than nothing.

Oh and please don't forget Hookers in Williamsburg. His rods prices are good and he is always having a sell. Sell starts as soon as you walk in the door

I've been to BPS in Atlanta, Savannah, Charlotte, Baltimore, & Richmond and the Hampton store doesn't compare to any of them. It was pretty good at first but something changed. I prefer Green Tops but have bought online more lately than shopping in stores.

Re: BPS Experience from store to store. (Big Johnson)

The BPS in Hampton is a black eye to the industry. You guys do yourself a favor and drive the extra distance to Greentop. Luckily for me, there is no difference.

The Hampton BPS sealed the deal for me for another ten years last year. Needed at puck transducer last week, like right then. UPS had already left Martinsville for the day, so I resorted to calling BPS. Knew from the start it would be a cluster. So, after waiting ten minutes to get someone to pick up the phone at the counter, I get a girl who doesn't even know what a transducer is. So, after giving her the quick class, and the Lowrance part number, she spends the next couple minutes trying to tell me there was more to the part number. Bear in mind the only reason I called them, even needing it this bad, was I had a buddy who works for Hampton FD who was on duty and could go pick it up.

After she asked me for the rest of the part number the third time, I hung up on her and called Justin at Three Rivers Marine Electronics, which I should have done to start with when I couldn't get it on the truck from Angler's Choice that afternoon. Three Rivers had the 'ducer for a lower price than BPS, and I glady paid the overnight shipping and felt good about it.
    BPS is the pits...........

Orlando BPS is probably the best stocked I have been in, but living near Richmond we have green tops BPS Gander Mountain and all the local stores and the internet so nothing is ever out of stock....

I've been in 5 BPS stores over the years and only 1 of the 5 was well stocked. Too bad it was in Louisiana. I used to make the trip to Charlotte every year before the season started but I dont anymore. Not worth it.

It is a yearly ritual to try and get a pair of boots there for either me or my son, not once since they have opened have I been able to get the right pair that I wanted, always have to settle for my 9'th or 10'th choice, went to daschields in Suffolk this year. Am still waiting on Bass Pro to call me on a raincheck order from 3 years ago!!!

I was shopping at the BPS in Hampton, not too long ago, looking to purchase a popular new rod...They told me they quit stocking them since they were selling them so fast. That you could now only buy them on their website. Now that's a ridiculous management decision in my opinion. I have decided to quit shopping there!

Re: BPS Experience from store to store. (tuckerabbi)

Its the worse store period! I couldnt tell you how many BPS Stores Ive been to total. I voice my concerns EVERYTIME I go back home to Springfield, Mo (Headquarters)...and I will do that again in person on April 3-4.

Lawmakers in Hampton are partly to blame for the size of the store and the lack of restaurants and other "extras" the other stores have, however the managers are directly responsible for the lack of understanding of the local waters/basic needs. I especially do not like being blown off when I talk to a manager and request he order something that IS CARRIED BY THE MASTER CATALOG!

Greentop almost always has what Im looking for!

That should be SALE not SELL. You would think I could spell that working at an WHOLESALE store.
