Was this engine set up by an E-tec certified tech? He should have told you what oil to use and the tank should have been filled with what ever oil it's to use. A laptop and the proper software is necessary to set the engines current operating data in the computer. Being it's an 05 but NEW the engine may have settings for XD50 or XD100. But I wouldn't run anything but XD100 once you need to top off. The oils are totally compatible so use the XD50 but top off with XD100 eventually you will be on 100% XD100.

2004 evinrude 200 h.o. direct injection ( not 05 ) (not an e-tec ) . serial number 5041688 . owners manual says to use evinrude direct injection oil , if not available use a tc-w3 oil such as xd-25 . this motor is brand new and was picked up from the dealer with about an inch of oil in the tank . my local marine shop guy who wasnt really sure said the xd-100 is for the e-tec and i should use xd-50 in this engine . i have about 40 minutes on the engine and will drain and replace with the xd-100 if you guys recommend .

You won't hurt that engine with the XD-50, but when the weather turns cold run the Xd-100 to help keep from getting false no oil alarms. I switched to the 100 one winter and never went back. The 100 oil is the shizzel!!

I would burn the XD-50 that you purchased, then consider the XD-100 for the long term. JMHO

I burn XD-100 in a carbed Johnson 225 HO and it ran so much better with it I stayed with the stuff even though my boat drinks it !!! Mota's aren't cheap , use it ya' won't regret it.
