Thank You Scott, I appreciate your vote of confidence. Rude Power, There's no way to predict what a rebuild can do or will do for any gearcase. You're dealing with too many variables that are unforeseen by anyone. What one can do, is evaluate the pieces to be used and make some sort of uneducated guess as to what you might expect. The best anyone can do, is check and measure everything as close as possible, then buy new gears and hope the gear manufacturer was on his game and the steel he used was flawless. These are just a few of the things that have to be considered when answering your question. When you impose close to 300 H.P. directly to a pinion gear that's no more than 2" in diameter, and have it push a 2500 pound boat through water at speeds in excess of 70 M.P.H., you really have to wonder " how long will it last?" It's a tough question!![]()
Not to mention, jacked halfway outta tha water!! Just helping Eddie!!![]()
Thanks Mike, keep 'em coming, By the way, I saw Fred today and he said he had been taking some pictures of you recently!![]()

My pinion gear on my lightning looked more like an overgrown washer when mine gave out. No fear though Gearcaseman got me back out and fixed up. He knows his stuff and is totally willing to help.
Mike did look comfortable.![]()

What year did the magnum cases come out and will it fit,and between the magnum case and a just a regular gear case would there be any speed differance or which one of the two would be faster??

The magnums were coming out at the turn of the century. Yes the magnum will fit your motor. They are very durable with much bigger gears inside. You may notice a slight decrease in top speed, but unless your rig is doing 90+, why be concerned with it, I've never seen anybody but Fred and Bassmiester catch fish going that fast, and after they did it, they did'nt want to do it again![]()
