I had one go out on my big DLP TV. Sounded like a rifle going off when it popped. I called it in under warrenty and they sent me the part. Its super easy to replace. 2 screws and pop the new one in. Not sure what kind of TV you have but you should be able to just order the lamp and pop it in yourself.

Man that is so easy to do. Call them and order a new lamp. Most of the time they will send you a lamp if it has never been replaced. There is a cover on the back that has two screws, then the lamp itself has two screws. The lamp slides out. If you cant figure it out order the lamp and I can come swap it for ya. Grew up in P-town. Out there all the time. Try hitting the reset button on the front of the Tv for the heck of it. I have had alot of problems with the Lamp on my Mits.

On a Mitsubishi projection you an turn the brightness of the bulb down and it last alot longer, I have replaced mine 2 times. You can see a little difference at first, however you get used to it.
