    Spooling line on reel

I am putting line on a new reel for a buddy of mine visiting. It wants to spool more on the left side than the right. The left side is 1/16th" from the top and the right side is 1/8th" from the top. I have seen differences in the past but this seems excessive. What am I doing wrong?

Spool shaft possibly bent? Try casting it out and see if the results are the same after retrieve.

I took the line off, but I did notice the spool moving back and forth due to the adjustment knob turned out. I will try respooling.

Re: Spooling line on reel (Sterling)

I have read that here somewhere that there is a part(don't know which part) is worn/wearing down a bit. Its something to do with the levelwind, which puts the line on even through out the retreive. Check over on the Rods/Reels board and they can tell you more. Which reel is it?

that works to but iwas never able to keep the tension steady and it would always run the line to one side more than the other. but would staighten out after i used it.
