    Aluminum Vs Stainless prop

I have a 2000 Johnson Ocean Pro model # J150VXSSS s/n 04871939 on a 21' Seaswirl Striper. I boat on the north shore of Long Island, NY in fairly shallow water at times.

I was told to avoid stainless props to prevent lower unit damage if I hit rocks in the sand. The explanation was that stainless prop will not break, the lower unit will. Is my lower unit safe with a stainless prop?

    thanks-
    Mike

Your unit is safe with a S.S. prop, however, no lower unit will withstand encounters with anything other than water.
