Those coming to SML on Oct. 24th.

Just thought I'd let you in on a great place to stay. This originally was my Grandparents lakehouse till they sold it in 2002. It rents for 135 a night with a 2 night minimun. Has three bedrooms and is only about 5 min from the State Park by road and is about 10-15 min by water. Located directly across from the C6 marker in Craddock Creek. There is room for at least two trucks with trailers in the driveway and at least one more in the grass culdesac just outside the driveway. This is in a very quiet little area and I wouldn't hesitate to leave a boat parked outside. My cousins and I rented it for Labor Day weekend this year just to get together at the old lakehouse again and the people that now own it have really done a nice job of renovating the house. I even left my boat in the water with the key in the ignition and all the compartments unlocked for the entire weekend without a problem. The dock could use redoing but is in pretty decent shape and does have a good rub rail on the floating dock. If a couple of you wanted to go in together and rent something like this you could be very comfortable and have a really nice place to stay for a reasonable price for the weekend. This site also has a lot of other places available but I can personally vouch for this house. If anyone has any questions or wants me to check into somewhere for you stay please feel free to give me a shout and I will be happy to help. PM me for my cell number if anyone wants to give me a call.

Well, I'm new here and would like to meet some fellow BBC'ers. By the way, I'm not the skilled SML tactician that Skeeter 202 is, just a newby with a new boat from Amherst County Watersheds.

Fish are like women , they will change every rule in the game just because they think you may have figured something out . You can be a hero today and a zero tomorrow . It would be nice to meet fellow BBCers , I will agree with that point

Those of you out of towners that are coming should stick around and fish the big benefit tournament out of the State Park on Sunday the 25th. $60/boat. Good cause.

    Re: (Gambler250)

Getting a whipping for free on Saturday is bad enough How big is the tourney? Just asking because a bunch of those guys might be using the Park Ramp on Saturday.

Could you shoot me a little more info on this. I might be willing to give away $60 for a good cause...

They will be. The State Park ramp is always busy with tournaments until mid-November. Good thing is, there's two ramps, a huge parking lot, plus overflow parking.

    Ed - here's some info

    OCTOBER 25, 2009
    SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE STATE PARK
    7:00am-3:00pm
$60.00 entry per boat (max. 2 people)
70% payback with 30% going towards raising money for a local man that has bone marrow cancer. $10.00 of the entry fee going towards big fish both largemouth and smallmouth 100% payback.

Donations will also be accepted and appreciated. Everyone welcome.

    Call 540-570-0213 with any questions

***I think registration starts at 5:30am and you blast in order that you register***

    Re: (Gambler250)

thanks Scott, I'll see if my partner and I can manage that one.

I never worry too much about the crowds at State park. It may take a little time to get in and out but theres always plenty of parking.
