    200 HO Etech question

Ok, to make a long story short, I bought a Ranger R91 last year with a lemon Merc 200EFI on it. I've had nothing but problems, and Its in need of a new powerhead. I've owned Mercury moters my whole life, and this is the only one that can not trust, I have two other right now that are bullitproof, a 88 Classic 50, and a 2000 40hp 4-stroke.

I could have it rebuilt for about 6k, nearly as good as new. The marina that sold me the boat, said they would as a favor, get me discounted brand new 200HO ETech, fully installed with all new guages for 13k even. I know for a fact that if I went for a brand new Optimax, that it would go up to 15-16k installed. I was under the impression that the E Tech moters sold at a bit of higher price than the Optimax moters. Basicaly I'm wondering just how good of a deal that is? He told me normaly it would cost 18k to have a new 200 Etech put in, with installation of all new guages. That seems a little high, but it might be right. Anyways, it's only gonna cost me really 6-7k more for a brand new compared to 6-7k for a rebuild, makes it a hard decisiong being i still owe 14k on the boat. I know the Etechs are great moters, and I sure could use a few years of not sweating whether or not my moter is gonna break. Would appretiate any imput, thanks

Do it and get the extended warranty. You won't regret it as long it is the HO.

Yea, it's a HO, how much of a difference does the HO make? I know it stands for a high output, so I'm guessing it charges stuff up nicely, how nicely does that work?

It is a big block as opposed to the small block motor and it is factory tuned for High Performance. You will need to change the controls over to BRP style and also the tach and trim gauge.
