Looking for somewhere to take Fred for birthday.

Fred will be 67 on Sept 14 so his daughter has offered to come run the store for a couple of days while we go somewhere to give him a break. So the plan is hopefully on Saturday , Sept 12 after our tournament that day we will head off for a couple of nights. So I had asked him about where he would like to go and he said maybe the beach. Well I know he said that just because he know's I love the beach. But this is HIS birthday.

I was wondering about the lakes around the area. Within 2-3 hours away. Are there any Lakes that have Accomodations to stay in and maybe have access to rent a boat? That way he could fish/not have to take his boat (which needs some work if we were to take) and just be able to do what he LOVES to do but doesn't ever get to to do it?

I know you guys/gals fish all over and may be able to find some place? I guess I could search on line but if I have first hand information from some of ya'll I would feel better about booking?

Hey Melissa, you could take him up to Gaston, there is a place we stay at every year called Stone House Timber Lodge, it has a variety of places to rent and they rent boats as well. we love the place and the people are great to deal with.

Thanks! The tv is for after fishing!! We stayed at one Gaston place where there was nothing in the way of decent evening programing..

they have what I think is basic cable stations, we didn't watch too much, sat out on the screen porch and BS'd the night away, most were in bed by 9:00 anyway to get up early for fishing the next day.
