    Surgery update

Surgery went ok today.....infection did not make it into the knee joint which is good news......the knee will take longer to heal due to the trauma of two surgeries...but doc expects it to be a full recovery....she'll be in a knee imobilizer for about 2 weeks plus ice treatments.

Now on to the bigger problem.... the blood clot is in an artery that if it broke loose would cause devasating damage......its not real big and the docs are optimistic they can dissolve it...they had to stop the anti clotting med tonight due to bleeding in the knee, but they expect to restart that in the morning....

The hospital social worker is working on getting her home health care set up to keep check on the wound and her progress.....and also in home PT when they are ready to let her start moving around. Right now due to the clot, she is bed bound...

She will remain in the hopsital until the infection in the knee is clear....there are 2 drains in her knee draining out the yucky gooey junk....

A vascular surgeon will be called in to decide the best treatment for the clot...

This clot thing is scary, that unseen factor that you just never know what it is going to do......

    Re: Surgery update (pete 1)

Just spoke with Joyce. No real update, but things still seem to be progressing as hoped for. There is a bit of a sore throat issue, but that is being attended to, and no concern was expressed. I feel good about the level of care she is getting.

Thanks to all you wonderful folks for the prayers and well-wishes. Keep 'em coming!!!

    Re: Surgery update (PATRO)

    Visited today. Perky as heck!!!

Dr has allowed her to get up for "essentials"....Still monitoring carefully and is on blood thinners...

I really am encouraged by the progress...and am really puzzled by the previous surgeon/care which allowed this infection to re-occur (or continue) and get so dangerously out of hand! Including missing the blood clot. Dang!!!!

Keep the prayers coming. Got a way to go....Thanks!!!

Sadly, no internet reception so J cannot get on line while in the room with her Mom....
