    Tomato Bandit

When my dad was alive, he loved working in the garden...after he died, my mom, who was never into gardening, planted 2 tomato plants because it made her feel closer to my dad to work in her "little garden"...

Well my lab, Chase, was raised loving veggies, because his Grandpa would give him all varities of "samples" from the garden when he was a pup.....

So this year, we discovered that in spite of the fact I had placed a little fence around her plants to keep the dogs out....Chase was reaching through the fence and pulling off one tomato at a time, sitting down and eating green tomatos one bite at a time like an apple... .....

then he developed an allergic reaction to the tomatos and was scratching all the time.....so I had to put a larger piece of fence in front to keep him out....well the scratching stopped and all was well with the world...so we thought.......

this morning my mom let the dogs out after their breakfast...first dog comes in ....no Chase.....she calls......no Chase....then she sees the top of her tomato plant from the deck....and it's shaking......hmmmmmmm, no wind, so what's going on................ next thing I know she's yelling for me!!

Well... ole boy had "jumped" over the shorter fences on the side because he had room to get a running start.....but once he was "inside" the fenced area he had no room to move....I run out and as I'm standing there I hear the unmistakable sound of a tomato being "plucked" from the vine.......

I get down on the grass and I see him come walking out of the front part of the tomato plant...he looks at me, drops his head and of course, inside his mouth is one great big green tomato!!!!

Naturally I had to get my camera.... BUSTED!!!!

guess i'll have to use the link...it's not letting me post the pics like usual....hmmm..
