Who has a 23 pitch to buy or borrow?

guys, I'm told that I need to try a 23 (or 24) pitch Tempest or trophy prop to improve on my holeshot. I don't mind buying what I need but don't want to buy something that may not work well. If any of you keep a spare that would fit this description and are willing to let me borrow to try, please send me an IM. If it works well and you want to sell, I'll buy after trying or return to you if you want it back. Obviously this post only applies to those who know who I am, I don't expect strangers to "loan" me a prop. Thanks! greg (aka "Roland")

Hey Greg, I've got a 23P Trophy plus that you can try out. it's in excellent condition and has a flow torque hub for a Merc.

let me know if you want to try it out.

96 ProCraft 210 Pro, 200 EFI current prop is 25p Tempest. Top end is OK (60mph) at around 5500 rpm but holeshot is terrible. I mean like 1/4 mile to plane. Per Prop forum suggestion, I added a jackplate of 6" with height at 2.87 below pad. Water pressure is fine and will continue to play with it. Mike on Prop forum suggests a 23 or 24 tempest (not plus) or trophy.

Greg, the 25 your running seems to be right for the WOT rpm of 5500, could be just a tad higher but your close. does the prop your running have vent holes in it ?? if so, put in larger hole plugs in a couple of them and try it again, the vents help with hole shot alot. I've got a 25P trophy on my 225efi and have two of the holes without the plugs and two with "large" hole plugs in them.

Re: Who has a 23 pitch to buy or borrow? (sprint_lover)

Thanks for your response Perry. As I understand it, the EFI makes most of its power in the upper RPM range, and WOT should be around 58-5900. If a drop in pitch adds 150 rpm, then a 23 should get me about right. but I don't know how that applies to a 4 blade conversion. My current tempest is the old style with squarish exhaust holes that do not use any plugs.

I've just been reading the thread in the prop forum, sound like they are getting you close. the four blades are great torque props for these larger hulls, you would probably see a bit faster with a 23P Tempest but the bottom would suffer a bit. I guess it depends on whats more important to you, speed or hole shot.

I'm not sure that I would know the difference between 58 and 61 mph if I didn't glance at the GPS. I assume that I'd only be giving up about 2-3 mph

My boat is almost 22' long and will jump out of the water with full live wells and 50 gals. of gas under the seats. it will do 67 gps with a full T. load and 72 lightened up some. your boat should be somewhere close to that, within a couple of miles per hour anyway.

If I can get that out of this ol' procraft and 200hp, I'd be pretty surprised...

Greg...a 4 blade prop should be one pitch lower than a 3 blade. And the holes affect only the hole shot....

Thanks Lea, So a 23 p trophy 4 blade is about the same as a 24 p tempest 3 blade? That may be exactly what I need

a 23 trophy with some cup added should keep you at WOT rpms and help with the lift. You will have to play with the holeshot by vent holes , and motor height.
