Tornado Striken Areas and Awesome Volunteers

Saying a prayer for all those across the country devastated by the recent tornado's.....

We are still just beginning our recovery here in Suffolk...I have been so amazed at the response for agencies all around the state...police, fire, rescue, power companies, local stores donating food and drinks, etc...

I also have to say I am awestruck at all the faith based organizations that came in to help feed everyone, offer support and clean up help....have never seen anything like it....

I would encourage you all to look into these organizations when you are considering making a donation somewhere.....they have truly been life savers....and they go all over the USA, wherever they are needed....

Besides the Red Cross, Salvation Army and Operation Blessing, which most of us are already familar with....

We have an organization here I had never heard of called Mercy Chefs....Mercy Chefs pulled up in a tractor trailer with a kitchen inside....they have fed the officers and workers everyday with some great meals and are still here after many others have pulled out......Here is their Web site:
    http://www.mercychefs.com/

Another I had never heard of... "Gods Pit Crew".....came driving up with three awesome looking tractor trailers and two duellys with skid trailers, full of supplies, chains saws, equipment and 15 workers...When Gods Pit Crew pulled out; they were at a church near my house...
I was on my mower cutting the grass...and here they came "God's Pit Crew"...3 tractor trailers..I had to stop and give them a thumbs up with tears in my eyes....
    here is their Web site:
    http://www.thegodspitcrew.org/site/index.php

As sad as it has been on one hand...on the other, it just fills you with joy to see folks that care so much...and everyone working together to recover...sometimes just standing in circles, holding hands and praying with one another...a feeling of one united community...(to bad it takes a disaster to make it happen... )

God bless all of those that volunteer in times like these.....we live in a great country.....
