    BASS Weekend Series

How much longer can they survive. My friends are getting great money from them but B.A.S.S can't afford to keep this up. Frank P won the Chick tourny with guaranteed $5,000 with only 37 boats ($200 entry) plus he got $5,000 from Triton and $1,000 from Mercury and $500 from Motorguide. $11,500 and only 37 boats! Mike Hicks won last weekend at Kerr with only 39 boaters $11,500! Can you say WOW

They only had 48 on Lake Wylie the BFL had 194 I think.

with payouts like those they will get a lot better turnout next year. they knew from the get go they would be taking a loss but was the shot in the arm they needed to compete with the bfl. imo

    Re: BASS Weekend Series (AKFerzy7)

some places are getting full fields and others are still like 30 -70 boats. Believe me they are still making money. They pay the guys that run the tournaments good money each day also. I was an assistant with them last year so this ain't a rumor but from the horses mouth....lol..When you calculate 200 boats into it is when they start making money. With the guaranteed $5000.00 I thought they would be bigger fields than we are seeing.

86 boats is the largest field they have had. They have averaged 54 boats per event. BASS might bite the bullet on this one but nobody can afford to pay $5,000 with only 37 boats plus they paid more places than just first place. Then pay your directors. Triton can't be happy to pay $5,000 with a handful of boats either. Approx. 60-80 weekend events and i'll guareentee almost all winners will be in a Triton. 60 times $5,000 is a lot of loot even for Triton.

    Re: (pete 1)

And some of their directors are idiots!! Guys from FL come to NC and tell us we cant trailer to weigh in, we must beach, well that would be fine if there was a place to beach, we had guys having to hike through the woods to weigh in! The entire room was in a uproar when he said this but he said too bad if you dont like it dont fish! Great attitude!
