Getting ghost in the view on ML2 after the latest update

    image0.jpeg

I can't say for sure this is due to the latest updates or not but it just started happening. If the water is shallow I also see a ring as well without any trees. I have the settings for sensitivity and contrast on 10/12 and dynamic contrast on HIGH.

Forward mode, 60 degrees or if you need, the default F at the transducer. Forward range 65ft, downrange 40ft. Mostly clear, Lake Ouachita AR. The depth in that pic was probably 25-30 feet. When I'm around trees you can see that reflection or what ever it is behind the trees. If no trees than I see a semi-circle starting from the bottom left to the top right or a constant slight reflection going from the top left forward. I did not see this before, except during all the pollen. If there are no trees and deeper water than all is clear except for the slight reflection or ghost looking. It seemed like this started soon after I put on the updates. I did the whole process of re-calibration and reset defaults. Yes, if I turn up the contrast to like 20 then it's not as bad other then I still get the reflection off trees or brush. Before all of this and even with pollen I just ran 10/10, dynamic contrast at HIGH without all of this.

Can you post an image of the transducer installation? I had the same and I flipped my transducer around. I think that helped, but there was also pollen in the water for a while and it might have been a correlation.

The transducer is mounted on TargetLock and has been this way since I updated to Xplore and ML2. It used to do this when around standing trees with ML1 but once I updated to ML2 it was better. I'll do some more playing around and see what happens

Here are a couple of pics showing the semi circle in the view. In this picture it's not that bad but sometimes it's way worse. I called HB and all they suggested was to reset the defaults, which I have done already.

That is strange. All most like it is amp gain. Bad circuit in the video stage. I'd ask if heat is a factor, but I know you hillbillies have been as cool as we okies here lately. Try switching to 45 degrees and see what happens. Good luck..!

I think you still benefit from posting an image of your setup. Do the two rounded areas of your ML2 transducer face away from the pole that it's installed on? Or do the two rounded areas face the pole?

Here is a picture of my ML2 on the target lock. When in the water the transducer would be facing forward and yes, the rounded area as well as the shadow/reflection would be facing away from the transducer and the tree/bottom. This is how my Ml2 has been mounted on my TL since I upgraded to ML2 and Xplore. I use the default F for forward which is 60 degrees in the settings.

Count your clicks up from Down until the F is lined up with the pointer. Each ratchet click with MEGA LIVE 2 is 7.5 degrees.

Ill do that tomorrow. I didn’t set the angle though, it was set by the system since I’m using the auto mode.

Just checked and it’s 6 clicks so that’s 45. Next time out I’ll change the mode to forward and set the angle. But, the auto mode set the angle to 60 before and it’s been that way.

Yes, it should. Is your setting at the F position and if so what is the forward angle?

I'm not trying to advertise someone's YouTube video but here is one that shows the same thing as mine. Note, they have sensitivity at 3 and contrast at 20 and still get it.

To add some clarity, you're talking about the circular clutter that I circled at the 1:45 mark of the video, correct? If so, I see that myself on occasion, and I've attached one of my screenshots from last week for reference where you can see it. (But many other screenshots from that trip look okay without the ring.)

It comes and goes, it seemingly depends on sunlight, and it was really bad when there was a lot of pollen in the water. It seemed worse when my ML2 transducer was oriented so that the round areas were facing the pole, which is why I was asking about your install. Either way, it's not unique to you.

I get a semi-circle that is the distance from the sonar ping the equals the depth. Most of the time with pollen/algae, the semi-circle is a clear space in the particles.

It is at 30' with algae and thermocline:

This is one at 17' with pollen:
