Exclamation FG Tutorial--Easiest Way I've Seen

I've struggled with knot consistency between my braid to fluoro and couldn't master the FG.

I wanted to share this video because it's finally a way that allows me to tie it. Take a look and maybe you'll find the same.

Watch around the 3:50-4:20 mark when he starts making the wraps, make sure you go the right way. Once you get the wraps down, the rest is easy

Feiders video is what I follow, bite the braid with your teeth and let the rod keep the tension.

I tried the tool and it's a PITA as well as you are having to hold the tool. I'd just as tie the braid around the reel handle snuggly and let the rod hold it tight. Shin Fukae's knot is the easiest by far for me.

Just use the Shin knot. I have yet to break the leader knot and been using it for 4 years now.

I have gotten a good bit better at tying the FG knot and have the tool shown. The short rope on it I attach to my boat cleat or anything else that is handy. It does help with making the knot more consistent for me. I broke the hook off setting the hook but the knot flat holds. I do understand the finger not following the brain problem though. It’s not the quickest knot to tie for sure but it’s the best I have used.

I have been using the ott method the last few years without issue. It is the easiest way that I have found

I can tie my Surgeon’s Loop and be catching fish while you guys fiddle with that FG knot.

Wow way toooooo much hassle! I’d rather put string trimmer line on while at a cream cheese sale!
If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.

Yup, as long as it breaks on the hook end I'm good. Even when it doesn't I can still tie it really fast even with the wind blowing and boat rocking.

Is that small spot with someone already on it really worth finding out the hard way they don't like company? Keep it a mystery and go somewhere else.
