    Intake for water pressure gauge

My water pressure gauge does not read at idle and seems high at full throttle. (I have a MercMonitor)
    The speedo stopped working too.
How does the water pressure gauge get it pressure?
The reason I asked is I put some compressed air to the slot on the lower unit and the water pressure gauge moves.
Did I mix up the water lines at the gauges?

This will depend on whether you're using an ANALOG Water Pressure Gauge or a SYSTEM LINK Pressure Gauge.

SMARTCRAFT water pressure comes from the block pressure sensor that comes standard on your engine model.

Analog water pressure is "teed" in the same GRAY TUBING down the port side of the engine and on to the rigging for the boat.

If in doubt- post a picture of your gauges.

That's analog. It would feed from GRAY tubing that comes from the back of the engine (via a "tee") and heads up through the rigging tube to this gauge.

Any idea why the water pressure gauge does not read at idle and seems high at full throttle?

As Don always says, when concerned about water pressure start at the source - the water pump. When was yours last serviced?

But why doesn't it match the Smartcraft?

Looking back at your original post you didn’t state it, but it sounds like you may have manipulated the tubes to water pressure and speedo gauges at the dash... As you stated you put air to the pickup on the lower unit and your water pressure gauge moved, sounds like tubes are mixed up at the dash. Pickup on the lower unit is for the speedometer. Swap the tubes at the dash and check with air pressure again to see if the speedometer moves and if it does, you should be good to go.
