    Lake Lanier Georgia

i fish lake Lanier here Georgia , this week we have had our boat ramps closed by the Corp of Engineers . We had no warning of these closures and have been told that closures can be expected across the USA at Corp ramps .Lake Allatoona ramps have already been closed also. No tournament permits are been issued, so fishing has almost come to halt on one of the best spotted bass lakes in the USA The Corp states the closures are due to budget cuts and man power hiring freeze . i guess fishing is not insulated from politics

This is not going to produce the desired result for the idiots that are orchestrating it.

Same thing going on at national park campgrounds and such. Someone has to clean the toilets, pick up trash and work at the entrances and such.

The number has been cut from 21 closed to 11 so far, I have read. You can search for more info on why.

Are these closures a nation wide problem or a localized color problem?

Maybe ol Pete needs to make a few leadership personnel adjustments.

Little Hall was on the list, funny because I've never seen anyone there doing any maintenance in the 10+ years I have been using that ramp. There used to be a guy and his wife that lived in a camper by the entrance that would be in the booth collecting money, but since they put in the electronic payment stand, they are not their either.

I’m not happy about it but at the same time I’m not surprised they would shut down some of the boat ramps for Memorial Day Weekend. Lake Lanier is one of the busiest man made lakes in the country. Over 10 million visitors a year. That means a bunch of idiots like you see in the pic that happened last Easter doing stupid things. Roads were blocked both directions getting to the boat ramp while over 500 people partying on land and at the ramp.

If you want to fish this weekend, just find an open ramp and go around 6am. Party people usually don’t show up till 12. Weather looks great today and Friday. Rest of the week sucks!

Thankfully Representative Rich McCormick & State Senator Greg Dolezal stepped in on this, and got them tightened up. COE has already received their full budget and no jobs have even been cut. They're trying to strong arm politicians by hurting, GUESS WHO, the taxpayer AGAIN! COE has now cut the number of closings from 20 to 11, and now ALL ramps will be open. It's a start, absolutely ridiculous actions by the failed COE leadership.

Those aren’t the people being cut.

We both know that no one is saying we need less people cleaning toilets at out National Park Campgrounds.

”open” on paper doesn’t mean shit when concrete barriers are still blocking them.

They set them ****ers up quick….lots of them. They seem to be having trouble finding the manpower to remove them. I guarantee if the “open” parks aren’t open by today, some good ol boys will be forcefully removing the barricades
