    skirt trimming on chatterbaits

yall trim the skirts down at all? I have seen and heard of people doing it just like 1/4 to a 1/2 inch around the bottom of the hook. like any other jig. If so, can you tell it makes a difference? Presentation wise and/or more bites?

Nope, never saw a reason to do so. I sometimes put on custom skirts, and usually leave them longer.

I will if it impedes the action of the trailer.

I didn't see a need for it either. I mean I do take some off of a standard swim and flipping jig but don't see a need for the chatterbait

I think it depends on the trailer you’re using.. not a standard across the board yes or no answer..

Absolutely - I will do that sometimes to enhance the action or profile of the trailer.

Trimming, no. Removing all together sometimes.

I turn them upside down and trim the skirt to the end of the blade... It's perfect for a trailer, and makes it hunt better with less drag.

    I'll trim them a little
But I don't think it matters. Just a habit for me
I tend to like thinner skirts
