    Endoscopic Carpal tunnel release

Had the procedure done today at 36 years old. Severely broke my wrist in 2019 which has led to this. I must say the procedure sucked. I was given a local and could feel there scope going into my wrist. Woulda much rather be put under then feeling and hearing what was going on.

I had the regular carpal surgery on both wrists a couple years ago and it was a piece of cake as far as the surgery goes. I did need some PT afterwards to improve my dexterity. Sorry to hear your endoscopic was less than desirable. I'm uncomfortable having surgery awake, so I would opt for being under general anesthetic. I should also note I had a local injection in addition to general, as my surgeon told me the local injection was pretty painful, so I was under prior to the local injection. Totally painless for me.

My dad had it done back in February. Surgery was ok but his thumbs are right back to how they were pre surgery. When he picks something heavy up he needs to rest it on his wrist rather than use his hands to grasp. He says as long as he can still hold a fly rod fine he’s not doing it again

I had it, just had the local so i could just drive myself home. There was some pressure on the nerve that was definitely uncomfortable. Went back and had the thumb release and that was worse. He hit a nerve a couple times that shot all the way down to my toes. It was bad. But still just waited a few and then drove myself home.

I thought I had carpal tunnel but was cubital tunnel. Funny bone groove closed. Said I should have 4 small scars, unless it’s a lot worst than the mri showed. Doc pressed his finger against my elbow and said “does it hurt when I do this”? I puked, my wife died laughing and he was quite surprised and said “I’ve never had a reaction like that, I will take that as a yes!” After surgery woke up with a soft cast and 6in Dr Frankenstein scar across my elbow. At least I can hang onto a one handed 3lb sledge now and not launch it into the woods because I had no grip!

I keep putting it off as I have it in both hands, my right hand is the worse as its numb most of the time with pain in my elbow area. That and what they call a strangulation in my middle fingers.
