I am considering purchasing a 206 Champion that has a 2004 300 HP HPDI outboard on it. Are parts available on motors of this vintage? Anything to really look out for? Current hours around 300.

How is Ripon these days? I used to stay in the college dorms there when visiting Oshkosh every summer for the air show. My first time at a Culvers. All nice folks in your neck of the woods.
If this is a VZ300 that you are talking about they are very sensitive to the quality of gasoline. And they don't tolerate being over propped at all.
Parts for the most part are still available.
Life is good in Ripon. Proped with a 25 pitch T1. I have checked with a Yamaha dealer in Appleton area and they were luke warm about the motor. Their words, "its an okay motor" but like you indicated, very fuel sensitive.
They said they would do basic maintenance on the motor but anything major,... injectors, fuel pump, etc. they won't touch it. The boat is in Eau Claire WI, I am going to check with dealer in Eau Claire and get their feelings on the motor.
Thanks for your reply.
The reputation of the HPDI's are not good.
I have same year 225 and it’s been the best motor I have had!
225 in a 2005 year and it just runs for me.
