Summer Fishing is Here What are Your Hours?

How late will you fish when it gets into the high eighties and above? No more torture for me. My hours are from daylight to 10 AM and from 5 PM to a little after dark. The hours in between are nap time.

Can fish all day in 80s. When it gets hot I start at 5:15. Fish till around 11. But only live a mile from the lake. Fished lots of tournaments in 100 degree weather

I plan to fish all summer regardless of heat. If it gets hot jump in lol. Start throwing deep diving cranks and spoons when it gets real bad and frogs.

It got a little rough for me yesterday at 85-ish and bright sun. Being up north, I’m just not used to it yet this year, because the warmest it’s been for me in a trip so far has been about 70. And the water is getting warmer, too. I probably didn’t drink enough, because by 1:30 I was pretty pooped. When it gets into the 90s with substantial humidity I try to be on the water at first light and off the water around noon. Some of the meds I’m on now might be adding to the difficulty of handling heat. That’s why I resist taking anything that is not absolutely essential. Too many side effects.

I’m young so I can fish in 100+ degrees, makes it easier if the fish are biting.

No matter the temp, I’m usually fishing daylight to 10-11am. this way I get home around 12-1pm at the latest and have the rest of the day to spend with family.

I only go out once every other week on average. Actually this year I haven’t even been yet. My boats been out of storage for about 3 weeks but Just got the lights on my trailer working Thursday. Then my wife’s jeep, my tow vehicle, is in the shop until monday

When it's in the upper 80's and above I'm off the water by 10 o'clock. No need to fight the heat anymore for me.

Kinda depends on the day for me. During the week I may be out there a long time, but on the weekends with the boat traffic I pull the pin earlier. Usually done by 1 or 2 pm on week days.

About the same for me, except I usually target 11:00-11:30 as quit time around here, as that’s just when it gets too crowded.!

Like most have posted, in the summer heat I like to be waiting for safe light at the dock, and off the water by noon typically. And when it's really hot and no wind I'm not ashamed to say sometimes I fire up and move just to feel some breeze lol.. Also gets me out before the clubs start coming in, less crowded at the ramp.

I welcome the heat to get people off the lake. I have only been like 3 times this year because it has been so freaking crowded.

Its not about the heat. Its avoiding the pleasure boat traffic. 6:00 am till 10:00-1200 ish.

The heat only puts the old farts like me off the water. Hotter it gets the more traffic and wake boarding. I should have gotten up and went this morning at daylight and been taking a nap under the AC by now. Got up late and got suckered into working. Fishing had to have been better than what I did.

In Ontario sunrise to sunset. In Virginia about the same as you but probably don’t go out in the evening until 6 pm.

I’m only 55, so as long as I drink I’ll fish dawn to whenever I quit having fun. No issues with a 8 hour tournament yet.

I am 70+ years old--I fished a lake this AM that was an hour from my house--I was so excited I could not sleep-It was a Bill Dance signature lake---Left at 4:15 arrived at 5:15 and fished until 10:30. I was done.As in I do not want to fish anymore....Here is a tip for you older guys----Work on your legs and core---Love to fish--Love to stand upright---

My fave in summer is late afternoon until dark…. Most summer days are late outgoing tides and if you’ve never fished draining marsh ponds/ditches, it can be absolutely awesome when you time it right!! It’s my drug for sure…

(I hate waking up early in the morning)
