    Prop Size 2005 521 VX 225 Optimax

Running 2005 521 VX 225 Optimax fullly loaded
    running 25 Tempest 3 blade 5600-5700
Rpms. 59-60 MPH . Looking for more speed
if possible? Also prop to pad height? Going
to try Fury 25 . I know WOT SAYS 5750
but talked to Mercury and they said 6000?
Does not have rev limiter on it.

3 1/4 or so on the prop to pad. A 25 fury going act like a 26 Tempest so you are going to drop RPMs likely a 23. Or 24 fury better to try— probably should try a bravo one or a razor XLR that’s a big boat with a slightly under size motor compared to what’s on them nowadays. What are you using for Speed? GPS I assume? What kind of shape is that prop in? Seems like you’re slipping a lot about 22-23%

Thanks for reply , GPS on locators for speed , prop
looks good thought about having it cupped more .
I know 225 is undersize , thinking about going
to 250 , if it wasn’t for cost I would . You mentioned
Bravo or Razor if I do what pitch . Keep
going up and down on pad doesn’t change to much .
    thanks

I would buy a 250 you can get one pretty cheap now. I have 5 fresh rebuilds for sale. My 521VX will run 77 with the 250 and a 27 Tempest. I would not waste a lot of time trying to get much speed out of that 225. Also you have something not right if your turning that 25 Tempest 56-5700 and only doing 60. My 521VX with the 25 Tempest would always do 60-61 at 5000 RPM.
