Transducer question

Just hooked up a HDS PRO 12 for a friend that bought it as a demo at a cheap price without a transducer. We decided to use a standard active image transducer not the HD version because it was already on the boat. When we got it out on the water it just had lines across the screen. Also, when you went to source in your menu bar there wasn't a choice for active imagine transducer it just said this unit. If its compatible I know there is something wrong with the settings just seeing if you guys could tell me if its compatible or not.

This unit is the correct source if the transducer is direct connected to the unit. The AI transducer is automatically installed. I suggest connecting the transducer with the unit on and powering it on again with no other units powered on. Everything should be automatic.

Make sure the transducer is plugged into the outside black port (not blue) and in the sonar installation menu that Channel 2 is on.
