    Snake ID help

Simply put does this guy need to die? In the backyard with the 3 and 4 year old kids. I don't know what it is, sure one of you do. Thanks

NO it does not need to die. It's non-venomous and from a quick look, appears to be a harmless garter snake. Regardless the ID, it is NOT a venomous snake.

Probably the least harmless snake there is. I remember in health class they thought us what venomous snakes looked like in our area. Did nobody ever py attention? I’m not specifically referring to the op but I see so many mis identified snakes. A lot of people think if it’s not black it’s venomous

It’s a great addition to your yard. It preys on small rodents

He’s a goner if he slithers up on my property. Needless to say, they’re all diamondback water rattlers in my book.

When I lived on the lake I had all types of snake neighbors. I had a big rat snake that lived in the remaining wall next to my shop. He .inded his business and I handled mine

Our property is infested with eastern black racers and we love seeing them, great rodent eaters.

Thanks guys, wife sent me that pic while I was at work. It was near the shed where the kids play. If it freaks out the 3 year old it may still disappear, harmless or not.
