    Who Jogs?

The other people besides me and the fisherman in my neighborhood to get up early are the joggers. There are two categories of them. The lawyer type who are driven to get up at 4AM and jog a few miles during the week before going to work and the trophy wives who want to keep in shape for their husbands who start jogging around 8 to 9 AM. These are actually in good shape.
Then there are the weekend joggers who walk more than they jog and are not in that great of shape. Looks like it could be dangerous to be out of shape and jog just once a week.
Any joggers on here? I don’t run unless something is after me.

Give those out of shape folks all the credit in the world. They’re trying to better themselves while people judge them.

i used to run in high school and college. Atleast 15miles a week. stopped once I started working full time and haven’t got back into it. Have tried the couch to 5k a couple times but fell off the wagon after a month or so.

We have a great walking/biking trail along the canal system about a 2min drive from our house. I’d love to get back into running again but I’m so out of shape and conscious about people judging me ill use the treadmill until I can run miles without stopping

I ran in high school and while in the military but lost interest and don't really see the need to do it any longer.

I run on average about 2,000 miles per year. I do most of my running at 5:00 AM except on weekends and race days. Distance running is addictive as hell.

I destroyed both my meniscus from 20 years of serious running and pickup basketball. If not for that I'd still run but am fine with walking my dog 3 times a day. I agree it is awesome to see folks getting in shape, it's not easy to maintain the discipline but well worth it!

I run and lift weights 3 days a week. I run anywhere from 2-10 miles (depends on how my body feels) and then go to the gym and lift weights afterwards. I do it to not die young and also because I like it. Yeah…..I’m one of those psychopaths that actually likes to run.

I used to love running before having kids. I'd run 6-7 miles 4-5 times per week. A couple times a year I'd do a half marathon just for the hell of it. Then with kids and work responsibilities I got out of the habit and rode my exercise bike since it was more convenient. When the pandemic hit, I thought I would get back into running since I had the time. After a couple weeks I realized how much I disliked it so I started going on long walks/hikes (8-10 miles) instead which I really enjoy. Over the last couple years I have gotten into cycling and mountain biking. I will always choose those over running since I can do them longer (burn more calories) and it is easier on the joints. I still occassionally go to our indoor fieldhouse and run for 45 minutes just to crosstrain but I never enjoy it. So nowadays I ride my road bike, go mountain biking, go on long hikes in the winter, lift weights (hate lifting), and occassionally run (dislike running). Just turned 51 and feel great. I've cut down on sweets this year and have lost so much weight that I'm going to force myself to start eating more.

Used to run religiously. Competed in many half marathons and marathons, ultimately settling on triathlon, with the goal of qualifying for Kona (loooooong shot, but that’s what goals are for). A couple really bad bike wrecks and bad knees killed the dream. Now I swim laps and lift 4 times per week - but never early.

I used to workout with heavy weights all the time back in the day. Only time I ran was when I played in my softball league and laughed at people running.

Now I run at least twice a week, mixed in with moderate to heavy lifting and actually enjoy running. I run 3-4 times per week before my workout. 5:30am on my road for about a mile or so. Best thing I’ve noticed since I started running a couple years ago is my breathing is better and I don’t get near as congested as I used to. I also think it helps with my weight lifting by giving me more stamina.

I trail run 4-6 times a week in addition to strength training. Wake up at 4 a.m. to maximize time out there, before I have to go to work. My general rule is, if I’m not getting up early to fish, then it’s to workout.

I started jogging with quiting smoking years ago. But ankle surgery ended jogging. Now it's just walking and hiking. I do add a ruck sack most times

I've been running since 9th grade. Averaged over 1500 miles yearly for approximately 3 decades. It is a great way to exercise IMO. Retired now, a lot slower, never run in the dark anymore and only average 15 miles a week while incorporating lots of stretching and strength exercises into my daily routine. Staying in shape for all the grand kids, golfing, fishing and basic quality of life.

I ran every evening while in my twenties. Started walking golf courses in my thirties until age 46. Had a heart attack at age 46 and I thought I was in great shape at the time. Go figure. Almost checked out! After that, I started racing a Corvette, then sold that and bought a bass boat at age 57. Guess I still can't really catch fish successfully LOL, but trying gets the heart rate up like jogging.

I used to run 3-5 miles 4-5 days a week. Did this for 40 years and it ruined the meniscus in both knees. Now I grab a book and ride an incumbent bike in the basement 4 days a week and walk afterwards. I do miss the running.
