2011 200hp Pro xs Rev limiter going off at 5620 rpm

serial 1b822001... also does this motor have steel reeds?

this year WOT RPM limiter goes off at 5620

Last year it was fine ... 5750 WOT sometimes 5800 Limiter just barely beeped. trimmed down 1 tap and it was ok...no beeps

I have smart craft gauge and Vessel view mobile.... both had same reading..

Anyone have thoughts why this would happen?

    Difference at 5620 = 60.5
    last year 5750 = 63.8

My guess is the alarm is not for exceeding RPM's.
What makes you think the alarm is for a "rev limiter"?

Also- what you might refer to as the "Rev Limiter" is actually more of a window of 400-500 RPM's. The PCM may limit your RPM's earlier, rather than later if it perceives a low load (under propped or poor bite), or a combination of factors.

Inversely, if everything is "perfect" you may at times be able to inch the throttle up and slowly add trim, climbing RPM's above the max RPM range slightly without ever perceiving a limiting event.

Really need the G3 Full Reports in this case... they will confirm what the fault was.

Good point from you both.. Probably NOT rev limiter.
WOT , shortly after I open it up i get 2 single beeps then continuos loud beep
I back off slightly and it goes away.
Going to have to find someone around seattle with the tester/code reader...
All my tach says is system fault , I did not see any numbers..

I just noticed Vessel View Mobile had the fault error as ENGINE OVERSPEED
    To me.. I think WHAT????
I am only getting to 5620 RPM , as previously posted I have it propped last year to max 5750 exactly. (with 23 Tempest plus)
and it was fine all year. Nothing has change.... frustrating, this will be a tough one..next i'll check water pressre and double check oil and temp

The data will make it simple to find the exact cause, without guessing.

    Thanks for all the help.
I got out at daybreak flat calm water.
oil, temp, water pressure all good.

I came to the conclusion that it is prop slip.
I can hold it at 7/8 throttle and if I give it more, RPMs go up with NO acceleration.

the only thing i found that changed was one of my prop plugs is missing , i don't think that would have any effect
i will drop the motor 1/2 inch next time out.

You are correct the "prop plug" will have no effect at WOT.
Test lowering the motor in 1/4" increments.

Sorry guys, nothing mechanical... I was at 2 1/2 below, nothing changed from last year but it was prop slip at WOT.
Don't know why, no dings or scratches on the prop.. I dropped motor to 3 1/4 and it now bounces 5700 to 5720 WOT no alarms..
I'll leave it alone....I did not try anything in between......maybe it was the new carpet LOL.......thanks
