    Will Tackle Warehouse escape liability?

Since they were the title sponsor, what do you think? I highly doubt it. The lawyers will go after any and everyone, especially those with deep pockets. What will the be the ripple effect of it if they do? No more title sponsors? What will that do to the tournament industry? What will that do to the tackle industry? Boats? Motors? As someone else said, this could be a turning point in the fishing industry.

As a guy who hangs out with a bunch of lawyers (HIGHLY expertly trained) I'm willing to bet all the sponsor contracts waive their responsibility and leave it on the organizer. However, that is not going to keep them from getting sued. They'll just have to lawyer up, go to court and litigate to make the law suit go away.

As mentioned the organizer should have insurance

Anyone can sue anyone for anything. Doesn't mean they will win.

This, and I was going to post similar

Typically advertisers will sign contracts that separate them from events; which they don't manage, control or influence. Imagine the sponsor of an NFL stadium being held liable because a fan or player had a tragedy. Decent advertising contracts avoid this. Further, many companies use a third party agency to set up the actual agreement. I pay advertising agency, they pay event owner.

It was an accident—a bad one, but still an accident. I don't think the sky will fall. This isn't the first time people have died at sporting events. Nascar has had spectators die in crashes, people have fallen and died at football stadiums, and some have even died from foul balls at baseball games. Hopefully, the families of the deceased receive appropriate compensation to help them through the hard times ahead.

Pretty sure there’s a no liability clause in tournament rules.

I’d be shocked if anyone but boat operator and their insurance are sued. My guess is this will be a common insurance settlement. Boat accidents happen pretty often.

I would bet $ you are right. At least if the tour has one lick of professional knowledge. That won't matter to those that represent those killed. They will settle outside of court and we will never know the final outcome.

The difference in these events is that the ticket is usually a contract with terms that you accept when you use it. This will also usually have a hold harmless agreement attached to it. The fishermen who were killed had no association with the event in any way, shape, or form. They have no agreement with MLF. They were just there.

Every name/sticker on the boat will get a phone call. McDonald’s paid huge for a spilt cup of HOT coffee.

If a lawyer calls you should get a scam alert on your phone so you will know not to answer it.
