SOS Broke down in Greenup Illinois Help please

So I was on my way to Sam Rayburn. Long story short AAA will not tow my boat. They will tow my truck but I'm not leaving my boat. I'm in Greenup IL Loves parking lot. I have tried to call a tow truck company 5 min away and they will not answer the phone. I have a hotel booked in Effingham. If someone is in the area I'd like your help I will pay $200 cash to tow my boat and belongings to Effingham Hotel. I will leave my truck here but not my boat. I will deal the rest after I rest.

At one time they would rent UHaul/Ryder trucks with hitches.

You need to order 2 wreckers one of which must be a flatbed for the boat. Only way they will tow it.

There are flatbeds that can tow a truck, too.

That sucks. If I were closer I'd come over and lend a hand to you. Hope someone from IL is close enough to be of assistance.

Sorry to leave you all hanging. Was taken care of very well when the tow company finally picked the phone up. I appreciate all the feed back. Sam Rayburn has been canceled and I'm stuck in Illinois

While in Effingham, check out Newton Lake. You won't be disappointed

I had a breakdown moving cross country from California back to Nc in Jackson, Tn several years ago. Tow truck left the boat hooked up to my truck and towed the whole works to the local Chevy dealer. Glad it worked out for o/p.

That really sucks. I'm guessing no one is going to look at your truck until early next week.....

No idea how long you were planning on being at Rayburn but an option to keep the trip alive is to call Enterprise rent-a-car (or U-Haul or Ryder as mentioned above) and see if they have a truck with a hitch on it. My neighbor at Rayburn use to rent trucks from Enterprise all the time while his tow vehicle was being re-furbished. If not, maybe rent a car and hire a "hot shotter" to take your boat to Rayburn. You can do the same getting back to Effingham or burn a few days and get your boat back with your truck.

Add the boat trailer to your AAA policy right now. It takes a few days to kick in. So you will be covered on the way home. It’s cheap.
Hang on. I'll help you in 77 minutes.

Won't help current situation, but you might check BoatUS website. I have Shelter boat insurance and BoatUS policy below.
    *****
BoatUS policy ($124 for 1-year, paid April 2025)
    water towing: unlimited Inland/Freshwater
road towing: unlimited (truck and boat)

note: they have a system for lakes with NO BoatUS ports, they use local marinas, but you do have to check which ones, which is pretty simple system, and you do have to contact boatUS before towing for approval, they have a phone app.

    *****
    Google AI Overview
Yes, Canadian citizens can access BoatUS Unlimited Inland Freshwater and Unlimited Trailer Towing services. BoatUS towing services cover both on-water and on-road assistance, including trailering the boat. This includes freshwater areas in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
