If it is hanging up there it will lead to gauging/scaring and leaks from the scraping. If you want to try and find it yourself, verses taking to the dealer, raise it up and look for scrapes in the paint on the frame to see if it is snagging there. Then I would loosen the bypass screw and lift/lower it by hand instead of by power (may be pictured in your manual). If it still clicks, that may tell you it is not the rod, but the frame or tilt pin. Then raise it up and use the holder/lever to keep it up and get the weight off of it. Then remove the pin at the top and try and find it by inspecting that and lowering and raising the rod by power without any weight on it. If you don't locate it, rub some grease on the pin, put it back together, and try again.
