    VA Rally

I found out there is a VA rally every year over Memorial weekend on Kerr.

Does it follow the pattern of other rallies in that the T is on Saturday, or does that change because it is a long weekend? How difficult is it to get a room on a holiday weekend, and how bad is the boat traffic?

    Re: VA Rally (zelmo)

The tournament has traditionally been on Sunday at our rally. Boat traffic is heavy, but not terrible. As for this year, we have not decided yet if there will be an official tournament. Besides, that's not what BBC rallies are about. They are about fellowship, showing off boats, riding/fishing in other's boats, running props, socializing, eating, telling a few lies, more fellowship and the like. Bottom line is, it's all about friends getting together to have a good time and relax. I've been to eight rallies, getting ready to leave for another in a few hours, and the best ones I have ever attended are those that have the least formal schedule and you fly by the seat of your pants and have fun!!

Getting a room is not bad if you book in the early spring, after that, it can be iffy. For the last two years, we have filled and have been the exclusive guests at Bayview.

I agree with everything Greg said!!!

I'm all for dropping the "formal T on Saturday" and just having a good time.....I know it takes a tremendous amount of work on the part of the few that volunteer to put these rallys together. It would make it much easier for them to be able to just come and enjoy the rally and not have to do all that prep for the rest of us....

anyone who wants to have their own side bets, go for it......

Actually, I like the idea of dropping an official tournament. I fish for relaxation, and could never really figure out why some have to make it a competition. Don't take this as knocking those who do fish Ts, it just isn't my thing.

I may have to put this rally on my "must" list.

I agree...my job has enough stress.... Happy that others enjoy the TX part, but I prefer to fish to relax....and to hang out with my good friends!!

Is that the Bayview Efficiencies on Fourth Street? Do you launch from the marina or the state park?

Yes, it is Bayview at the end of Fourth St. We launch from various places each day. Depends on where you want to fish.

I am amazed that you can get that as an exclusive on a holiday weekend.

If I bring my boat down maybe somebody can teach me how to drive it.
