2003 Evinrude 225 D.I. H.O.

Took off from the ramp and noticed once i was up on plane that motor would not get up past 5300 rpms, ( usually runs around 5800 rpms ). Well i slowed down once we got to our fishing spot and noticed the motor was idling rough...kinda like a plug had fowled and wasnt firing. Well tried to get back on plane and motor would not get above 3000 rpm. I didnt hear any griding noises or anything like the motor had popped....i know this could be a lot of different things...just curious if any on has had something like this happen with this motor?

First the easy things, check compression, and run a diagnostics. If you don't have a laptop with the diag software, or know someone who does and will hook ya up, time for the shop.
