    Re: opinions (tritonfaststrike)

Operating range for your motor is 4500-5500 RPM you are right in the ball park. When it starts walking on you make a gradual turn to the left. What is happening is when your boat is on pad, the prop is turning to the right and the boat is trying to fall off the pad causing the rocking motion. By applying pressure (turning to the left) if allows the boat to stay on pad without the chine walk. Check with the guys on the Triton forum for set up tips for your rig. Welcome to BBC.

You will not gain a thing. I would bet that your rig's top speed is more like 57mph. You won't know without a GPS. Tachs are capable of being off a few hundred RPM unless they are calibrated at the shop with your motor. THere is a switch on the back of the tach that you can dial it in based on the # of cylinders, ect.. It is not worth the trouble to mess with it. Your boat has a nice smooth ride and fishes well. Tritons are not known as speed deamons. A 8in jack plate and motor height adjustment will help with the chine walk more than anything.
