My last boat was a 2010 z521, when I first got my 650 the first thing I noticed was how much more responsive it was when turning, it takes some getting used to, but is super fun to drive once you get used to it. Also, chine walk was never much of a concern with the ranger, so that was new to me as well, my 650 will begin to walk a bit from 72-74 and then smooths out, but again, you get used to that fairly quickly after driving the boat for a few hours.

The biggest con I've noticed is that it definitely gets blown around a little more on windy days compared to a ranger, but if your spot locked that's not much of a concern.

I think the 650 rides much smoother in big water (4'+ swells when you cant really go over 20 mph). The 650 stays on pad until about 17-18 mph, where my ranger would come off pad at about 25, which means on those really rough days you can keep it on pad without going so fast that spear you a wave. My back would hurt after running 20 miles through 4+ footers on champlain, in the 650 I could probably drive around all day if I really wanted to.

As far as deck and storage size, they are pretty similar between the 650 and 521, so the 650 may feel bigger than a 520c. The 650 rod locker fits at least 20 more rods than my ranger did, but the ranger had rod tubes, whereas the 650 does not. Not sure how they compare without tubes.

I loved my ranger, but I think I like the 650 more due to the speed, nimbleness, and rough water capability.
