I went out to a local system of ponds that are connected by little creeks. The forescast called for some snow about the time I was planning on getting there and just to satisfy my curiosity, I set up a buzzbait and replaced the skirt with a full size Paca Craw in Cajun Crawdad. I went to the side with a little dam and first cast, this fish sucked it down. I know it's not too big of a fish but it's the first fish I have caught in the last month or two.
The bass had a lot of red spots in its mouth and especially on the upper lip...I think I remember this being because they are feeding heavily on crawdads? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.
My setup:
6'6" Kistler Magnesium MH All Purpose Special
Shimano Curado 201DHSV
14# Sufix Siege
Buzzbait (not sure of weight) with a Paca Craw replacing the skirt
The water was paritally frozen over so I could only assume the water temp was in the upper 30's or low 40's
