Stop by and say hey at TexasBestFishing dot com.
Very Nice Smallies!! Were they returned to the lake??
Not unless he has a lake side home![]()
I live on Spring Creek 1/2 mile up from the river. A walk down to the creekside and these big boys were headed home!!
I would like to add that, while I advocate catch & release, I do not oppose keeping occasional fish for the table or trophy. A good article about this very thing is available at http://www.bassresource.com/fi....html. I have been fishing since I was old enough to hold a pole. My father was a founding member of the Tennessee River Bass club in the early 70's prior to the Bassmasters which later absorbed the TRB. Catch & release was indoctrinated at an early age but also tempered with the knowledge that Momma like to eat fish. The panfish (crappie & bream) were the best but absent a good catch an occasional bass was included. I may be blackballed by you guys for my opinion but do look over the above article before criticizing anyone who would say differently. Bass fishing in Pickwick has gone down since the instituting of C&R and could very well be part of the cause. I don't advocate keeping the larger fish (unless trophies) and thank someone for the opportunity to catch these three as I am sure someone had released them in the past.![]()
Ya won't get blackballed by this member cause i like ta keep a few fer table fare myself usually the dinks 12--13 in make a good meal.

Agreed i have eaten my share of bass as well usually try to eat the fish that are just over the legal limit for keeping a fish!! Not a big fan of keeping 3+lb fish to eat would rather see the smaller guys eaten, but to each his own!! If yuo want to eat them by all means eat them no blackballing from me!!
For me those are too large for table fare. I don't mind eating a few bass that are closer to the lower side of the length limit. It is legal so to each his own. I don't see any benefit for larger fish being kept or how keeping larger bass would ever help the bass population. Let the large breeders go and eat the smaller ones.
I agree with ya, Rudapa. Anything above 2 lbs in a bass wouldn't taste good anyway and during the prespawn & spawning I release all of em. In Pickwick lake anything above 3lbs is considered a large smallmouth and above 5lbs a HAWG. The largest smallmouth on record in our state was 10lbs in 1950. Sometimes I wish I lived in California.Guess I'll just have to happy with the 10 pounder bigmouths in Cedar Creek lake.
