    engine tune

I am gettng ready to decarb my '95 175hp evinrude. I bought the engine tuner and i have a few last second questions...
After I am done with the decarb and let it sit, overnight, about 8 hours, the directions say to runs at fast idle (1500rpm) for 15 minutes. If i do this in the water can i leave the prop on (directions say to remove it)? Once this is done, if i read the other posts correctly, i change the plugs and run it wot, like normal?

I also bought the carbon guard. it is OMC and i think it might have been on the shelf for awhile, there are black flakes, looks like fish poop, in it. Should i just filter them out through a tee shirt or is this stuff expired? i would hate to get something clogged in a carb!!

    thanks,
    ebs

    Re: engine tune (ebs32)

The remove the prop statement is for safety reasons, on a carb motor you can rev the motor to 1500 on the hose, to the guys reading this that have DI motors, do not rev a DI to 1500 on the hose....it wont stop at 1500.

After you have run tuner out, put it in the lake and cruise around for about 15-30 minutes at or below 3500 to 4000, then change the plugs.
