Ranger RIDE System Vs Key Use

I just picked up my boat and the RIDE system seems to be working well. However, when I decided to test using the physical key to crank the motor, the FOB stopped working as it did before. When I push the power button now, I hear a click and the RIDE system turns on, but the engine controls don’t turn on. I’m not sure if it’s user error or I’m missing something else here. Any thoughts?

Another note, the engine start/stop button is lighting up blue as though it’s ready and turns green when I push it like it’s sending the signal to crank the engine but all I hear is a click. If I turn the key to the on position and hit the start button, the boat will crank of course. I feel like its something simple but I’m a bit turned around now.

Hmm, haven't heard of this issue before. You tried disconnecting the batteries to do a "reset"?

Gave that a try just now. No change. Still just clicks when I hit the power button and it turns the RIDE system on. Have to turn the key to the on position to get the audible chirp from the Merc and have the ability to start it.

Fuses are all good as well. I checked them all under the console and in the forward day box. I’m not sure if there could be any in-lines I could have missed. I also checked the function with both FOBs. Same results.

Some times you get that signal that FOB is out of range and will not start. I would jump on customer support or your dealer. My RIDE system has been nothing but a nightmare. In my opinion and personal experience Ranger does not have solid solutions for all the scenarios that occur.

So mine does weird things like that as well. When I first got my R boat, the R.I.D.E. system worked like a charm. Somewhere around the 12ish hour mark is where it all went down hill for me. It freaked out while running and said no fuel, ( I had filled it up that morning ) and I lost all of the functions on the screen for about 2 minutes. After that it came back up and I thought everything was fine. Since that day, and 6 or 7 attempts at an update, it is still not right. The fuel gauge reads constantly full no matter how much fuel I burn out, the hydraulic jackplate ( TH ) gauge is all over the place and usually says it's at 100% no matter where it actually is, it also bounces around by 20% to 30% sitting still and not touching the jackplate lever at all, I get no GPS position fix at the top of the R.I.D.E. screen, key fob alerts, and the push to start and stop feature is now basically useless.....thank goodness for the back up key.

My dealer has been very happy to update the OP box, which is what Ranger always suggests, but the problem is the update doesn't stick or work. I've told them it needs a new op box in my opinion. They've called and I've also called Ranger as well and they continue to say it needs an update. I've been beyond frustrated with the R.I.D.E. system, but love the boat.

The NEMA system does not work with the RIDE very well. My power poles never worked. They have tried and tried to fix and even disconnected the “ blue can” helps read the trolling motor charge. No luck. I would continue to be a very loud and squeaky customer. I run four HDS 12s and have the Garmin radio receiver. I have told Ranger from day one that the NEMA could not handle. Check your “details” icon with just the battery on and you will see a list of items. Then turn on all your graphs and the trolling motor to see what changes. Without all the items on my power poles worked. Once everything is powered up I lose power poles.

I had NEMA problems with mine too. After updating software and new NEMA control module my poles work through the RIDE system. Boat stayed at the dealer about a month.

Why Does Ranger (white river marine ) Still continue to put junk out on the market. I don't mean to mean to pop off here but I just dumped 2000.00 into my L model boat for key pad issues only to have it not working as designed. I found a bad wire harness by jiggling the wires and there response is its working and they wont replace it. So sad used to be a top quality boat but not anymore.

I had one issue with the fuel gauge not reading properly at first, but now mine is working great with the 2.03 software.

I don't plan on upgrading software to the newest 2.07 or whatever it is now unless I start to have issues.

The Ranger Ride system is nothing new, Ranger has used it in the 600 series/walleye boats for a while now before putting them in the bass boats.

The walleye boat history using the Ranger Ride system is what sealed the deal for me on getting a R boat. If the R was the first Ranger to use it I may have waited a bit :)

My jackplate gauge doesn’t work, the battery always says it’s low, the gas gauge goes from full to 1/4 of a tank, never gradually decreases, I get a GPS Fix error. Overall, this thing is buggy. I’ve updated the software and that fixed the fob for a while, but it’s back. New battery, still issues.

Hi everyone, what happens to me and two other people with the system is that the remote control batteries run out very quickly. I'm talking about a couple of months at most, and then it starts sending the alert. Has anyone had this happen to the batteries and found a solution so they don't have to constantly change them?

I have had to replace the batteries more often than a couple of months. I don't know why it drains them so fast. I keep extra batteries and a small screwdriver in the console incase this happens. One of the remotes is a master remote, it must be powered up for the RIDE system to work.

Have you tried leaving the key fob in the boat versus away from the boat? If it’s not close to the boat, maybe it’s always active looking for a signal and if it was in the boat, it would need to look for it and would go to sleep, mayby?

I always leave mine in the center console between the seats. Cant think of a better place to put them. I have heard of some people wire tying them under the dash or using adhesive to mount to the dash closer to the screen. I don't really want to do that, as I know I'll end up losing them or something. I'll just keep replacing batteries I guess.

Yes, I keep it in the middle console, but it's the same. The batteries run out very quickly. I don't know what to do.
    Thanks.
