I have a 2006 Johnson 115hp md.#J115PLSD. It has been in service for about a year and has 40 hours on it. It was a left over model. The quick start feature does not keep the motor at high idle for very long, less than 30 seconds when cold and just few seconds when warm. I also have a 60 degree model # J150GLEIS 1991 150hp and the quick start keeps that motor at high idle for over two minutes when cold and a few seconds when warm. Was there a design change? With the 115hp I end up having to to advance the throttle in neutral to keep the motor at 1200 rpm so it will warm up on a cold start without stalling and sometimes have to advance the throttle on a warm start if it has been sitting for a while. On both engines when cold starting I hold in the key to prime engine while turning it over. Is this normal or should I have the 115hp looked at while it is still under warranty.
