    low oil sensor 4 beeps

running down the lake sensor went off, shut down started back up idled back toward ramp. sensor would sound like every 2 minutes again shut down,,,,, I was like 15 miles from the ramp so I pulled the res. out and poured about 2 quarts of oil in the fuel tank, figured that would atleast give it oil like the old motors. when I got home started looking for a reason, the engine mounted res. was empty, I have the 3 gallon res out and making sure there's no crap in the res , what I found is the float assembly , I can pull the float straight out like I would think its not suppose to, for air leaks and not being accurate so....... I'm think the res assemble is junk or fuel pump not sure which, it runs fine last week was fine any ideas......thanks jim

Need to check the remote tank for loose leaking caps/ hoses that prevent the tank from holding pressure.

Follow these reserve reservoir bleeding procedures >>>>> How to BLEED the ENGINE MOUNTED OIL TANK when AIR IS PRESENT

My remote tank was 1/4 full or less. When I took off the horn went off. if my buddy laid on the front and I did a slower take off it worked fine. Dropped Don a email. Filled up the remote tank and it has never gone off since.

caps are not loose, remote tank is full, had about 2/3 in engine tank, never had any problems like this before, 18 year old boat but everything looks fine no air leaks, wish I knew how the engine mounted tank works, it had oil in it, I believe the sensor /float assembly has taken a shit, couldn't work on it today it rained all day, what I know is I can remove the sensor from the tank and there mis 0 resistance at all, I would think theres a float that should move as well, there's nothing

    Its simple.
    1. The remote oil tank is pressurized from the motor
    2. Pressure in the remote tank pushes oil to the reserve oil tank reservoir
    3. Oil is then fed to the oil pump

The oil level sensor is just a warning letting you know that oil is not being pushed from the remote oil tank to the reserve oil reservoir. The sensor is just an on/off switch, it does not in any way control how the reserve oil reservoir is filled.

Also the remote oil tank should never be "Full". There needs to be space for pressurized air.

and if the float is stuck or worn out? seized in place? will the alarm go off? I will let you know tomorrow when I replace the tank. didn't get a chance to test the sensor like I said but from everything I have read most of the time it's the tank, I will figure it out tomorrow hopefully

    You are missing the point.

You stated that the "tank on motor is 2/3 full". The tank only being 2/3 full has absolutely NOTHING to do with the level sensor and wiring......period

Problem still present, put a crankcase pressure valve on, replaced both hoses from tank to engine. While doing the lines, and this is the f,,,, d up part , the line that at the remote tank that has oil marked on it had the air line going to it and the other which must be oil was going to the crankcase valve! I have never touched those 13 years, so I put them where they are supposed to go , no different, it was like that forever, I put 75 hrs a year on this boat and never had this problem, I am totally confused, replaced everything in the system and even when it was wrong it still was ok no alarm now it won’t fill the eng tank but has pressure I can hear it when loosing the filler cap on remote tank ???

rare ;;;; i replaced a tank about a month ago that the inlet fitting on the brand new OEM tank was not open to let oil flow into tank on engine , if you have oil flow at engine tank connection this could be your problem , replaced another couple weeks ago that didn't even have a damn float in it

All connections are good I have replaced everything so I know it’s not a connection problem the only thing that is still original is the tank in the boat and those were backwards for 18 years, I put the hoses back to the wrong way as they have been and its been like forever

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t because it’s not filling the engine mount
tank, that’s the whole problem, the only thing that has not been replaced is the tank in the boat, can’t work on it anymore till I get home, I have a bfl tomorrow, I have a new engine tank with a new sensor, a new crankcase valve, new lines from boat remote tank, the. Only thing I have not replaced is the remote tank in the boat, boat runs fine 5800, 70 mph, idles smooth, I can’t believe it would be the remote tank in the boat but there’s nothing else left????
