    Another Lithium Question/Opinion Needed

My golf cart currently has 2-27 amp hour 48v Ionics in it. I am wanting a little more run time. I found another brand 50 ah 48v for a good price. Is it a bad idea to mix brands and amp hours even if they are all hooked to a power distribution block?

Sorry, cant help with your question, but maybe you can help me?

I am thinking about replacing my LA in golf cart when needed with lithium. How do you like lithium's in cart?

Are there any issues with running the cart at full speed for extended time with lithium's as opposed to LA. The reason I ask is that Minn Kota has recommendations on that with lithiums.

Some of this older equipment/circuit boards were not originally designed with the constand high voltage that lithiums are able to provide

I would do it and just monitor charge and discharge to be sure they are balancing. As long as they are discharging and charging equally to full charge you should not have a issue. CJ

I like them. I don't run it much wide open but have not had any issues when I have. Only thing is when I contacted Ionic they said 1 48volt would be enough juice for a round of golf. So I went with 2 to be safe. Well I really need 3 possibly 4 to equal the 6-8 volt leads I had. I wasn't really paying attention but the ionics's are only 27 ah each. By the time I add 1-2 more I could have had one 100 ah or bigger cheaper like the ones linked above.

More of a salesman than a lithium expert, are you?

You need to keep similar capacity among those batteries that are in parallel. Different BMS parameters between them and it will create a voltage imbalance, the smaller batteries would drop to a lower voltage sooner than the big battery. It can also create a charging imbalance, depending on how your charger is setup.

I've never seen a battery OEM recommend a parallel bank of batteries with different capacity batteries.
