I have a '93 Evinrude Intruder. Every once in a while when I turn the key after the boat has been sitting for a while my alarm will do one quick chirp. It doesnt do it every time. My oil level is topped off. Is this normal or is there something its trying to tell me?

It should do it everytime you turn your key to the on position from the off position. It tells you the alarm system is working.
Sorry for the ignorance. This is just the first OMC I've had. I ran Merc prior. Its not doing it everytime, do I need to be concerned? I'm assuming because if its not chirping then its not running. Could this be a connection issue or my alarm is going bad?

More than likely the horn. It give a very quick chirp when you turn the key to on. To test your system turn the key to ON then disconnect the tan wires on your motor, there are 5 points monitored. One tan wire on each head for over temp. One tan from the oil tank for low oil one on the VRO for no oil and one on the vacuum switch for fuel restriction. Take a jumper wire and touch each one at a time to the engine block the alarm will sound.
