This is what happens when they allow gun manufacturers to be sued for making a firearm that some a-hole used to kill people I have used Remington arms as long as I have been old enough to hunt ……….it’s sad to see a company like this having to close its doors …..it to becomes a victim…..a victim of our times

Insurance paid the 72 Million Sandy Hook settlement. This situation sounds more like a management and private equity issue.

The Remington/Cerebrus story has been well documented.

A combination of making poorer and poorer quality products as time went on and Cerebrus taking their cash and replacing it with debt so they could cash out before bankruptcy pretty much sums it up.

It’s really going to hurt this area bad, it’s the second biggest employer in the area behind Walmart (including the distribution centers). A lot of people/families are going to be affected by this.. quite a few I know very personally..

Remington is about a mile from my house, all I have to do is turn left at the end of my street and it’ll bring you right to the plant… this area is already a very poor part of the state and Ilion is a dying town, It’s going to make the depressed area even more depressing.

My grandfather was one of worked for the Arms his entire career and retired as one of the floor supervisors. He would bring my mom to the underground shooting range to help him test guns on the weekend. A bunch of other family members worked there too including my dad for a short stint.

That part was cool to read. Thanks for sharing.
I am not even up there. But saw and read the article, and I hate it for those working there.

Hate to see them close. The sandy hook deal should have been canceled by the SCOTUS. Next up hammer co sued by someone using a hammer to kill someone.

It is sad to see that NYS politicians went out of their way to destroy an icon of a business, yet they will go out of their way to give money away to BS businesses claiming to be the "green solution" like the battery recycler that took their money never even starting the building.
Now, they are targeting natural gas use, and not allowing it to be used in new single homes construction, yet they are going to allow it for building with 3+ floors which benefits NYC.

Makes just as much sense as Larry the Cable guy suing Hustler for his carpal tunnel.

I know it's partially private equity and corporate jazz that is backing this decision to move, but it does stink. I still cannot believe they were forced to pay anything for the Sandy Hook Shooting. I guess it's time to start suing the silverware companies for making tools that allow me to overeat and develop health conditions...Where do we draw the line?

Most of the POS that are bring this litigation are the State attorney generals looking for a way to extort money from companies that people have used their products to harm others or themselves, like the BS opioids crises.
I have been on opioids, hydromorphone, for nearly 10 yrs due to my degenerative arthritis, and they are not the thing that are killing me, but my cancer is trying to do a pretty good job.

I do not understand going after drug manufacturers either. They develop and sell a product. That product is imperfect. That product can do good but incomes with all kinds of side affects that can make it the wrong choice from many. It is up to a patient and a doctor to decide what is right for them. The drug manufacturers did not prescribe the drug and they did not force them intk anyone’s body. The patient and doctor decided that they were worth it for them. Did the doctor misprescribe? Possibly? But the fault in most cases lies with the patient that was not honest with themselves and became addicted.

Now if they were going around and breaking into their homes and injecting them while they are sleeping then yes they should be responsible but I do not know of anything of that sort happening.
