Never had more than two or three small dauber nests when I pulled the cowling. Then I got a motor cover with mesh vent covers and don't have to worry about that ... just check the pee hole and go. A long time ago I had a shop that that wasn't super tight around the large sliding entrance doors and some daubers got in and packed the drill press motor full of their nests and I had to take that electric motor apart and remove all the nests before it would turn and operate again.

We had a customer bring in his Ranger first pretty day one spring, said his Mercury wouldn't start. Our mechanics fooled with it for a few minutes and pulled the plugs only to find corn running out the plug hole. They went ahead and pulled the heads, was full of corn. He stored it in his barn where he had some popcorn stored. Looked like the mice had a popcorn party. Dirt Dobers are a common occurrence that we use to see all the time.

The dirt daubers were especially bad this year in GA. Obviously they were bad in other areas too!
