    Weiss Lake

Going to be fishing at Weiss for a week in late October. Never been there before, any hints, tips clues for bass fishing? Patterns, navigation, general areas, etc. Not looking for GPS coordinates, just some general info to get started. Lake looks to be a little shallow with numerous bars. Is it well marker or marked at all? Thanks!

I used to fish it quite a bit but rarely this time of year. Weiss is a fairly challenging place to run, and is usually muddied up where you cannot see any hazards. Channels are not well marked, if at all. There are also a couple of visible hazards in the channel too, just keep an eye out. Locals know some short cuts that can be pretty tight so be careful following another boat. Having HB mapping with depth colors is very helpful if you have it.

It is a good fishing lake and other than a few pontoons, there are almost exclusively fishing boats on the water. Buzzbaits and frogs in the water willow (especially near docks) is always good. The islands WNW of Little River Marina usually has some good sized spots around them. Slider heads and shakey heads both work. Zoom Red Bug in finesse or trick worms works well on those heads. Cranking baits along the RTE 6 causeway can be good too. I know some have had success with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits but not me. If none of that works, find shad and start cranking.

Thanks for the info, that'll give us something to start on. We'll be there for a week so we'll take our time getting around.

What dates you gonna be there? I know the ABT championship is gonna be there in a couple weekends so there's gonna be a bunch of boats and pressure then.
