    150 HO Lower Cowling Cracks

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this on the small block V6 Etecs. I had the port side lower cowling off to get at the shift linkage. I noticed that I had cracks on probably half of the cowling attachment points on the starboard lower cowling. Unless there are issues with the cowlings I would have to say that someone over tightened the screws. The best I can figure is either this happend during assembly or at one of the 2 dealers that had the lower cowling off, one of which was the purchasing dealer and is now out of business. Has anyone else had problems like this? Any suggestions on how to proceed with this? I guess it's only cosmetic for the moment but it'll be problematic as the cracks spread. Any input would be appreciated.

My 175 experienced the same thing a year after purchase. Dealer said they overtighten the bolts at the factory. He replaced both sides under warranty.

on some of the lower cowlings just on the vary edge it's like a tongue and grove fit they don't always line up and may need the edges smoothed off to make sure of easiy fit if under warranty period factory will take care of it they did for us

It's nice to see that I'm not the only one with this issue and that BRP has fixed this under warranty. I found a great dealer that's going to help me out so hopefully this won't be too difficult to take care of.

Looks like BRP is going to take care of this. I'd like to thank Brannon at Mark's Quality Marine for helping me out with this. He was the salesman who sold me the boat at a now out of business dealership and saw my post and offered to help.
